In case you aren’t tired of us talking about Jancis Robinson yet…

While here last month, she tasted and reviewed around 100 BC wines and since then I’ve been dying to see her notes. She prefaced them by saying that she has noticed a very distinct step up in quality overall. I realize that not everyone has a membership to her site (as Kurtis touched on previously), but today an article she wrote on BC was printed in the Financial Times and also re-posted for free viewing on her website. Neither of these go into great detail on her tasting notes, but they are both fantastic reads. She also mentions local Master Of Wine Barb Philip and her exploration of Pinot Blanc, which is awesome!

Her top review was 17.5 (out of 20) for the Nichol ’05 Syrah (although oddly she doesn’t mention it in the Financial Times post), followed by 8 wines rated 17: Tantalus ’08 Riesling, Wild Goose ’08 Mystic River Pinot Blanc, Quail’s Gate ’07 Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay, Thornhaven ’08 Gewurztraminer, Blue Mountain ’07 Pinot Noir, Osoyoos Larose ’05, Road 13 ’07 Jackpot Syrah, Mission Hill ’07 Oculus.

Full list of tasting notes on all the wines (members only): BC wines assessed – an update
Financial Times article: Nk’Mip, QwAM QwMT Merlot, anyone?
Free article on jancisrobinson.com (same, but slightly longer than above): Okanagan, Canada’s desert wines

Enjoy.
