Well, this little flirt has been glancing my way at the local BCLDB for a couple months now. Cute and petite with a great sense of humour – The Innocent Bystander 2009 Moscato from the Yarra Valley, Australia turned out to be a bit of a pricey date, but a fun and cheery fling nonetheless.
Fizzy, fresh and feminine – it’s a blend of Muscat Gordo & Black Muscat (which gives it that head-turning colour). This definitely isn’t one of those broad crowd pleasers, many would quickly dismiss it as “Too sweet!”. It’s a 375ml bottle and only 5.5% alcohol, so if it’s your thing, you can drink it with abandon! The official tasting notes on it mention Turkish Delight, which I would have never come up with on my own, but they totally nailed it with that one. There’s also definite strawberries and cream with a tiny dollup of citrus sorbet. The natural ferment offers a teeny-tiny bubbly style that practically results in a slight foaming thing on the tongue. Light as air, sweet and pretty, I would like a touch more acidity to balance it out, but more than anything – I’d much prefer it to not have set me back FOURTEEN DOLLARS at the LDB!
Bah!
Anyways, for a musical equivalent I need a little balance, some contrast. A little Aussie hip hop from the (excellent) Hilltop Hoods seems to fit the bill quite well, with that sweet Melanie Safka sample ribboning throughout “The Nosebleed Section”…
Enjoy:
Ah well done! I would have said something like “Strawberry Fields Forever” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n79B3FHi0Fs), but that would have been quite cliche.
