Jake & I have fun geeking out on the Google Analytics back end of this thing, seeing where in the world people are visiting from, which posts have been our most popular ones and so on.  One of the more interesting things is seeing what search terms people are throwing into Google, resulting in them landing on our doorstep.

I’d noticed in the last couple of weeks a bunch of new visitors have found us by Googling “Barb Philip Wine Picks”.   (Oh, and no – nobody uses Bing.)  Now, we’ve written about our favourite local Master of Wine a few times in the past, which is why they’ve found us as a search result.  These recent searches were notable though, particularly because Barb’s name is always properly spelled.  As a Kurtis with a “K”, I can identify with her dealing with seeing mispellings out there ( ‘Phillip’ and ‘Phillips’ are common).  These searches were from people who knew exactly what they were looking for.

So on Thursday, I asked her if she had any idea why we’ve seen this recent little spike.  She mentioned that the CBC had been doing a little more front-and-centre marketing on their website for her bi-weekly “The Wine Master” spot on CBC Radio One, which could have pushed a little more attention her way.

Lo and behold, there we go!  I never get a chance to catch her on the radio, but in checking this out, I was stoked to see that the CBC also offer her tips in PDF form…

So, yeah, those of you who’ve come here looking for “Barb Philip Wine Picks”, I believe this just might be what you’re looking for!

Oh, and by the way, a fun new way to catch her spot is also via the phenomenal new CBC Radio iPhone App, where you can listen to CBC Radio 1, 2 or 3 streaming live or any program you’d like on demand.  It’s free and one of my newest favourite things in the world!
