OK, the next person popping down to Seattle has to bring me back a bottle of this!
From the legendary vineyards of Washington State’s Walla Walla AVA, comes this tribute to retro NES gaming.
From The 8-Bit Vintners website:
“8-Bit Vintners is the creative love child of Mike James. His passion for wine and love of gaming has come together to create the coolest mash-up since The Flintstones met The Jetsons. All fruit comes from high-end vineyards within Columbia Valley and Walla Walla Valley AVA’s. It is produced with the highest winemaking standards in Walla Walla, WA and aged in a selection of fine cooperage.”
A tour around James’ site shows that he comes to this Syrah-Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon-Carménère-Malbec blend quite earnestly with education and experience under his belt:
“…after having only been married to my beautiful wife for a few weeks, I asked her to pack up and move to wine country. I had heard of a 2 year wine program in the booming wine region of Walla Walla, Washington and decided to enroll and go back to school. In June of ‘09 I graduated from the Center for Enology and Viticulture and it was the best experience of my life.”
Good on ‘im!
Obviously great marketing and fun story, with great videos of how this first release came into being.
Now, to find a bottle of the stuff…
