Last Night’s Line-Up

Last night we opened these 9 ridiculous bottles (plus a bottle of Sherry not shown). The theme was “wines that we like but no one gives a shit about”. There was plenty of fodder…we could have all just brought Cru Beaujolais and Sherry and have been very happy. The Pyramid Pinot was a opened out of Mike’s cellar afterwards (I think people care quite a bit about New Zealand Pinot Noir….I sure do). It’s hard to pick favourites as they were all great in their own respects.

Domaine Cauhapé Jurançon Sec Chant des Vignes ‘06

Château Megyer Tokaji Furmint ‘07

Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec ‘06

Nicolas Joly Clos de la Bergerie ‘05

Château Musar White ‘99

Aubert UV Vineyard Pinot Noir ‘06(?)

Betz “La Côte Rousse” Syrah ‘04

Pulenta Gran Cabernet Franc XI ‘05

Pyramid Valley Eaton Family Vineyard Pinot Noir ‘06

Shit.
More on all of this soon.

I care very, very much about anything from Huet.

Interesting.

A number of years ago my first wine job in Vancouver was at Marquis and I can say that without question that based on a ratio of number of bottles sold vs number of bottles returned as faulty by the same producer, Huet was the out and out leader by a country mile.

I love the wines- they are staggeringly good but Icouldn’t belive my eyes!

Interesting Khristian. Were the bottles returned as faulty actually faulty, or were many of them just perceived to be?

Kyle - I’m fairly new to Huet but I’m beginning to care quite a bit about these wines as well.
