Drinking The [Good] Local Stuff
Wine by

Jason Priestley, who is no doubt eying a glass of Blackhills Nota Bene.

A short Globe and Mail article from this past Sunday discusses the political motivation behind some of the wines you’ll be served at Olympic functions. No offense Wayne, but I tried your Chardonnay last night, and that shouldn’t be served to anyone. May I suggest relabeling it as No. 99 cooking wine? The Riesling is serviceable, but just barely.

If you haven’t already, check out Gismondi’s Vancouver Sun article from a week back on his suggestions of where visitors can find some of the good local wine.

Boneta is one of the names mentioned, where Neil is pouring some interesting BC stuff by the glass. I enjoyed the latest Joie Muscat (their first ever estate wine and it’s delicious), Thornhaven Pinot Noir, Road 13 Honest John’s Red Blend, and probably the best local Bordeaux blend, Black Hills Nota Bene.

Despite what it seems, you aren’t limited to drinking Jackson-Triggs Esprit out of a tent in a parking lot.
