I’ve officially started the new gig as Wine Director at the Naramata Heritage Inn & Spa. I’m a couple days in and the crew has been very hospitable and helpful as I learn my way around the place.
As you’d probably expect, the wine program mainly focuses on Naramata wines, although there is a juicy little backlist consisting of some global standouts.
One of the super-fun things about starting a new job like this is that first time digging around the cellar, it really is the wine-guy equivalent of being a kid on Christmas morning. That 2005 Nichol Syrah Reservare is a 1.5 litre and should be showing just fine these days, thank you very much! There’s all sorts of great back vintages of local fare, providing a great snapshot of the last decade in our region.
Over the next few days I’m going to do some local winery touring and hopefully uncover further rare gems.
Stay tuned!
