And, you thought it was over…

Jancis Robinson’s post yesterday “Canadian ripples – the response” includes letters from people with pretty extreme (and conflicting) views of the current Cellared in Canada situation. It makes it difficult to group together what is happening on opposite sides of the country as one issue – in Ontario a bottle must contain 25% local juice and blended CiC wines account for 50% of Ontario crops. Contrastingly, in BC, CiC wines don’t require local wine and I suspect that very few contain any (this is juice that is much more valuable).

The Boycott “Cellared in Canada” Wine Facebook group has sent out a call to arms for those concerned to take photos of the shelves in their local BCLDB or LCBO stores that don’t have CiC wines clearly separated and labeled from those produced from domestic fruit. This is what should be happening, but in practice isn’t necessarily. They’re asking people to post photos on their Facebook page.
