Denim was well represented by all involved.

On the lovely streets of Gastown the other day, I ran into Anthony Nicalo of Farmstead Wines accompanied by New Zealand wine maker Gabrielle Simmers of the small producer &Co. As I happened to be carrying an ISO tasting glass in my bag, Gabrielle gave me a splash of her Sauvignon Blanc from Hawke’s Bay while we chatted. I knew not to expect a mundane Sauvignon Blanc (Anthony only deals with small farmers who grow grapes organically and allow natural fermentations), but I was quite impressed with how good it was. A little of a richer, viscous style and quite pure and fresh tasting (I also wasn’t exactly taking notes). Anthony figures it should roll in at the mid $20s.

Now I’ll always have to carry a tasting glass (perhaps even on a chain around my neck…) and if anyone is searching for a gift to buy me, may I suggest this?

Brillant! I like the impromptu wine tasting jewelery. Much easier than carrying around an ISO glass, no?

I agree Karen… It’s practical and fashionable!
