There’s a lot I’ve been meaning to do while I’m living in the Okanagan this summer, one of them is fulfilling my goal to visit as many wineries as possible. Until this week, I’d never been to any of the big ones, Mission Hill, Burrowing Owl, what have you.
Two things struck me when I visited Sumac Ridge for the first time. One is that the place sure ain’t fancy. The second is that they make two wines in very small batches that I was unaware of. They offer both a Sparkling Rosé and a Sparkling Gewürztraminer and MAN, they’re both delicious!
The Rosé is dry and loaded with cherries and rhubarb, while the Gewürz bubbles over with plenty of lychee, rosewater and muddled lemon. I’m thinking of getting Indian take-out sooner than later to go with ‘em.
Both are just over $20 and are only available at the winery or at SumacRidge.com. Like I said, they’re very limited, so hop to it if you’re lookin’ for a couple splashes of fun this summer!
