Vine Talk – A PBS Series
Wine by

Well, episodes and videos of the new Stanley Tucci-hosted  PBS series Vine Talk are online now, and while their self-description claims that “Vine Talk strives to dramatically increase the excitement and comfort surrounding the selection and drinking of wine by creating a  welcoming environment for viewers”, I think that – from what I’ve seen – it just reconfirms the fact that a bunch of rich folks sitting around drinkin’ wine just doesn’t make good television. If someone can point out where this “dramatic increase in excitement” is, please let me know – I’m pretty sure I missed it.

Troy Patterson nails it on Slate, but you can decide for yourself by watching a few clips right here and here.

You want excitement with wine on television? Have one person drink two bottles of wine, and then discuss an historical event. Now THAT‘s entertainment!

I love the drunk history – thank you for including that! I hadn’t seen it for so long and it almost left my mind!

WOW!
That show looks ridiculously boring.
This is the problem with the world’s view of wine drinking. because it keeps being depicted in this way. If this show was my introduction to what wine was all about, I’d never touch the stuff. Luckily it wasn’t, and luckily I do!
