I’m not one to endorse consumption of the overly-greased and sodium-jacked food substitutes that the big fast food chains pump out, but, the reality is, we don’t all solely accompany our wine with foie gras and steak frites. A group recently sat down with a smorgasbord of McDonald’s cuisine and a flight of some accessible, versatile wines: a Sauv Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Prosecco, Garnacha rosé, Valpolicella, Malbec and a Merlot (not a single bottle of ’61 Cheval Blanc).
My favourite pairings are the Prosecco with Chicken McNuggets and the Artazuri rose with the Big Mac. This is another example of how rosés can pair with almost any situation and the current vintage of the Artazuri Garnacha is a damn good choice at the price (just over $20 at Kits Wine Cellar, Legacy).

Haha. I like the ‘wine for the people’ angle, but no one should be eating that crap!
