If you’re into exploring a little further into the world of British Columbian wine, this is certainly the time to do so! Not only did we just nab a slew of Gold, Silver, Bronze and Best-In-Class medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards, but there’s a handful of opportunities around town over the next little bit to see what all the fuss is about!
Quick n’ Easy-
This Friday, May 25th from 4pm – 7pm, myself and a couple colleagues will be pouring samples of a half dozen BC VQA Wines at the 39th & Cambie Liquor Store with small bites from Edible Canada. The following day, Saturday May 26th we’ll be pouring a half dozen wines over the Lion’s Gate at the Park Royal Liquor Store from 2:30 to 5:30. If you find yourself in either ‘hood, pop by and say hi!
A Little More Swish-
The ladies of House Wine are throwing an event this Friday, May 25th at Vancouver Urban Winery called “Sip Into Spring with BC VQA!” This is a pretty cool evening affair getting you into a seasonal mood with over 100 wines from 36 wineries, a raw bar by the BC Shellfish Growers Association, BC Cheeses and delicious fare by Chef Marta Pan. The venue alone is hella-awesome and it’s only 60 buck for a fun-filled night of incredible wine and food! Details here…
Restaurant/Retail/Wine Industry?
I’ve got something for you, too! Starting last week, myself and the BC Wine Institute have been doing BC Wine Seminars for trade folks offering a comprehensive overview of BC Wine, from history and terroir to sustainability and social/political aspects of our industry. Coupled with a tutored tasting of wines from our various (unofficial) sub-regions, these seminars have been quite dynamic and fun. There’s 2-hour seminars being offered the next two Mondays and Tuesdays. We still have a few spaces left in a couple of them, so if you’re local restaurant/retail trade, haven’t been in the loop on these and would like to find out more, drop me a line at kurtis@kurtiskolt.com!
Plenty of chances for more than a few splashes, hope to see you around one or two of these and we’ll clink glasses of BC goodness!
